Carpenter & Cook @ Lorong Kilat | Pique-Nique

The past 2 weekends' dinners with my family:

Last Saturday (25th August) at Carpenter and Cook @ Lorong Kilat, a cosy little cafe buried away in a corner of Bukit Timah. Do watch out for these signs placed outside, because it's easy to miss them by just walking pass:

They also sell these pretty vintage items which of course, are not cheap:

Cook's amazing mushroom Quiche (S$7):

Chocolate sea salt caramel tart (S$6.20) - yummy yummy mixture of sweet and salty, you'll definitely love it if you love thick and gooey caramel (Think: Mars bars). It got a little 'gelat' for me after awhile:

I can't remember what this is called and I didn't try it as well:

Most Chocolatey Chocolate cake (S$7) - and yes it really IS very thick and chocolatey! The portion's actually bigger in real life:

My parents' Hot cappuccino (S$4.80):

And my brother's Iced latte (S$5.80):

The interior's pretty small with limited seats, so it can get pretty crowded and squeezy on weekends. I don't think they take reservations on weekends (I remember reading it somewhere......), so I would recommend you to go on a weekday or reeeeaaallly early on Sats/Suns. Prices are pretty steep in my opinion, but food's good so they're worth a try! :D

And this was yesterday at Pique-Nique @ JCube:

Roasted Chicken Caesar Salad (S$14.80):

Cajun chicken (S$12.80):

Bacon Cabonara (S$16):

White wine prawn Aglio Olio (S18) - my kind of aglio olio (mmmmm!) with plenty of small prawns, but maybe just a tad too spicy:

Long Island all-day breakfast (S$12) - made up of 2 slices of toasts, half a tomato, baked beans (cooked with capsicum which I don't really fancy), ham, 2 sunny side-ups (you can choose to top up $2 to change them to scrambled/poached eggs) and a sausage:

Cappuccino (S$3 each):

Hot chocolate (S$7) with fluffy marshmallows, the combination's a little too sweet in my opinion:

And finally our desserts, Red velvet cake (S$7.80) and Chocoroco (S$8) - the 2 cakes that I've almost always been ordering because they're so good!:
