[ADVERT] Naiise launches a Food section!

If you haven't noticed, there has been a fresh emergence of local food makers over the last 4-6 months, and recently, Naiise has launched their brand new Food (yes, food!) section, creating a platform to support these local food makers.

"We have local food makers who are great at what they do. They too, like the designers we have, create products that add value to better people’s lives. So we decided to push the launch of a food section to offer users a wider variety of things to shop at Naiise, while helping local food makers gain greater reach and awareness for their products."
They currently have the following partners onboard: The Edible Co., GSH Conserves, Hunters' Kitchenette, MOFO CHILI, Natalie. E and A.Muse Projects. They are also looking at 2 Rabbit Chili and Bruneus Raw Nut Clusters to join them over the next 1-2 weeks!

Anyway here are some food products that caught my attention while browsing through their page (all information taken from the website):

Simple Lemon Cream Macarons / Caramel Fleur De Sal:



Both the above are made by Natalie Eng, a Paris-trained Singaporean pastry chef and Ferrandi graduate who makes French pastries with a modern twist.

One of my favourite macaron flavours, these simple lemon cream macarons are made using the Italian Meringue method and they are incorporated with fresh lemons for a zesty and light taste. The caramel can be used as a flavouring, a filling, a spread or simply as a sauce. Yummy!


Hazelnut Cocoa Butter by Hunters' Kitchenette / Milo Granola by Eastern Granola:



Hunters' Kitchenette's nut butters use ingredients that are natural, processed very minimally and without any chemicals. They also use coconut palm sugar and unrefined sea salt for most of the butters. I guess their products are pretty suitable for the health-conscious! :)

Last but not least, Eastern Granola makes cereal with lots of tropical fruit, nutmeg, curry, chilli, lime and even fish sauce. Their granola is a vehicle for rich and innovative flavours - yeah, who doesn't love Milo?!

Roosevelt's @ New Bridge Road

Sunday's lunch @ Roosevelt's because Neko no Niwa was full on reservations (boo :() and this was the nearest alternative!:





I am in love with such hanging lights:













Hot Chocolate (S$6.50) - I was just complaining the other day how hard it is to find really nice hot chocolates and then I found this! With Valrhona dark chocolate which suits my taste perrrrrfectly:



Chocolate Banana Buttermilk Waffles (S$12) - thick and (really) fluffy waffles with caramelised bananas drizzled with chocolate sauce. One of the better waffles I've had and overall it isn't too sweet. The chocolate sauce looks a little disturbing though haha:





Pork Belly Cubano (S$14) - sandwiched with molasses-marinated pork belly (yummy yummy!), smoked ham, lettuce, tomato, hot sauce and mayonnaise; served with fries on the side. The hot sauce is creamy, tangy, mildly spicy and it goes really well with the slightly sweetened pork belly.
On a side note, I hate how some menus don't state things that are obviously/visibly there in the dish, e.g. this case it was the mayo. I would have opted for no-mayo if I'd known because I really hate it so when the sandwich came, I had to sacrifice a piece of bread + lettuce because they were coated with mayo :(





Vanilla Granola with Yogurt (S$11) - made up of toasted granola, sunflower seeds, yogurt and honey. This is really nice except that the yogurt is a little runny/watery:

I cooked (surprise, surprise!) myself some prawn aglio olio pasta the other day for breakfast! :D I was pretty satisfied with the end product hahaha. Can you spot Mickey and friends??:

[ADVERT] NONG x Naiise Pop-Up Store

NONG Pop-Up Store is a mixed retail + F&B + workshop event that aims to promote sustainable living and growing your own food. The event is a collaboration between NONG by Edible Gardens and Naiise.

Naiise has just turned one, and is marking the occasion by bringing their products offline for the 1st time as the retail partner for NONG Pop-Up Store:

NONG Pop-Up Store is a unique opportunity for people to learn new ways for sustainable living and discover cool products that have been sustainably and meaningfully designed.

And food lovers, do listen up! On 28th February there will also be a Farmers Market there where local restaurants like The Cajun King and Morsels will be using the first harvests to make food. So do remember to bookmark your calendars if you wish to check them out!

The other day Amanda & Dennis from Naiise sent me a box of Nyonya kuehs knowing what a foodie I am! Heheh how thoughtful:

Err wait. These aren't real kuehs at all........ WHAT:









They are actually sticky notes! They look so realistic especially from afar. Stripping off the layers of post-its is akin to stripping the colorful layers of nyonya kuehs one by one. Now I feel like eating them already!:















I have a habit of writing notes for my parents just in case my alarm fails the following morning haha. This huge stack of sticky notes sure comes in real handy:

And don't we all need to label our organisers/notebooks especially for school? Those bunch of notes definitely need some form of organisation:
