Loysel's Toy @ Kampong Bugis | Arbite

Last Friday's lunch at Loysel's Toy:

Iced Mocha (S$6 each):

Prawn Salad (S$8) - with really crunchy prawns, mixed greens, tomato and cucumber drizzled in citrus dressing:

Eggs Ben on Toast with Salmon (S$12) - this didn't look appealing to me initially because the plate is so empty and unpresentable. But after licking the hollandaise sauce (which has this peppery taste), I couldn't wait to gobble the eggs down hahaha. And I really did because they were so good:

Beef Sandwich (S$13) + Bacon and Fried Egg (S$2) - I didn't try this, but the portion's huge. Comes with potato chips at the side:

Earl Grey Tea Cake (S$4.20) - I love this!!! The cake's a little hard though, but the earl grey taste is really strong:

Prices are pretty affordable here and food's good too! :)

Iced Mocha (S$6.50):

Buttered Mussels (~S$14) - my 1st thought when I ate these was: "Omg... damn niceeeeeee." Hahahhaa:

B For Breakfast (S$19.90) - comes with scrambled eggs, bacon, braised borlotti beans, grilled tomato, smoked beef sausage, sautéed mushrooms, toasted brioche and sautéed fingerling potatoes:

Truffle Beef Burger (S$18.90) - truffle-infused grilled beef served with mushrooms (I got mine without), grilled tomato, onions and mozzarella cheese (which I couldn't really see/taste):

I've been eating at cafes almost everyday/alternate days for these 2 weeks and spending all my money on food. Not good at all - for my weight as well as my wallet :(

OMG Bryan Yang are you freaking kidding me?! How is it that that post has not been pushed down when this post has overtaken it at the top?!

And haven't you realised the more you email me about this, the more I'm just gonna post these screenshots up?? I think it's time you use your brains. And stop with all the threats (I don't need you to 'warm' me either).

  1. I concur with the last sentence totally. That's the reason why my boyfriend and myself don't cafe-hop very often nowadays too, only on certain occasions. I'm also gaining weight too cos of the love of good food :(
Just wondering, are you on a quest to find the cafe with the best big breakfast or something? Haha cos I noticed from your posts that you would order the big breakfast whenever you go to most of the cafes!
But on a side note, Loysel's looks good! :)

    1. Hahaha nooo the big breakfast wasn't mine! I had the beef burger :)
I used to keep ordering big breakfasts because I liked the presentation, and I needed to have sunny side-ups. But after 'discovering' good poached eggs, I'm ordering more of eggs benedicts now hahaha.

Yes go try Loysel's! I have a few friends who love it too.

    2. Haha yea man I agree poached eggs should be done properly in order to fully appreciate it, as well as the hollandaise sauce!
1 reason why I hardly order big breakfasts (though appetizing and very presentable - Instagram worthy hahaha) is cos most of it can be prepped myself at home.. So yep, I'd always try the not-so-easy to make ones whenever I'm at cafes, like poached eggs :)
Always loved reading your food reviews! Haha hopefully the next time I come to Five and Dime, you'd be here :) was raving about F&D to my boyfriend a while back too lol.

  2. Hello! What's your weekly fitness regime like? Your abs look so defined despite all that cafe-hopping and meals! Would be great if you could share on the exercises you do and diet so that the rest of us girls get to see the light! :)

    1. Hello! :)
I don't really have a fitness regime, but I have intensive dance trainings at least 2-3 times a week, and they help a lot. We do a lot of core/arms/legs exercises. Other than that, I swim about twice a month and I do my own crunches exercises at home ~twice a week?

I used to be in the Track & Field team when I was in JC so I gymmed pretty often and ran 2-3 times a week. Then I went on to Dragonboating in my 1st semester in SIM, and it was all about weightlifting, running and rowing. I stopped after 4 months and concentrated on dance instead, and also run at my leisure time.

Right now I'm only relying on dancing and occasional swimming sessions to maintain my figure hahaha. I cannot run anymore (at least for the rest of this year) because I injured my left foot in January and it's still in the process of recovery.

As you can see, I don't really control my diet hahaha. I am a pretty big eater according to my friends. I eat whenever I feel like it, and even when I'm not hungry I will find something to munch on. Only my upper abs are defined, my lower ones aren't at all because I've love eating sugary/fried food hahaha. So if you want your lower abs, remember to cut down on sweet/fried/salty food!

Sorry I'm not of much help, my fitness was built up gradually over the years! haha.
