Saveur @ Purvis Street

Yesterday's dinner at Saveur with my family:

After reading numerous reviews about how long the queue can get, we made our way there slightly earlier before the cafe opens for dinner at 6pm. This was the queue at around 5.50pm:

This wall design reminds me of Hatched:

Soup of the day - Cream of Cauliflower (S$4.90):

Soft bread roll with butter (S$2) - you can also opt for the hard roll:

Crispy Pork Belly with poached eggs (S$10.90):

Pan-fried fois gras with Apple infused Port wine and vanilla (S$9.90) - a really tiny piece of goose liver and it's not the best I've tasted, but it's still pretty yummy:

Confit of Duck with Orange segments and Sauté Shittake (S$9.90) - this is a MUST-TRY!! This was my Mum's dish but I ended up eating half of it haha the meat is very very tender. There's also mashed potatoes underneath the duck leg. Most of the customers there yesterday ordered this too:

Angel hair pasta with Tiger prawns and Lumpfish caviar (S$6.90) - a really small portion of pasta (you can finish in in around 5-6 forkfuls?) and the prawns are really tiny, but the pasta has been tossed in olive oil flavoured with herbs and spice it tastes really delicious I have no complaints:

Angel hair pasta with Sherry Minced Pork and Sakura Ebi (S$3.90):

We ordered 2 more bowls because they're really so goodddd!:

And this was probably one of the best desserts I've ever tasted too - Chocolate & Hazelnut (S$7.90) - with tiny raspberries drizzled all over:

And this was yesterday's outfit :)

Saveur doesn't do reservations, so it's good to go around 20 minutes before the cafe opens for dinner so you won't have to wait for the next round of seating. Food is served pretty slowly too so remember to place your orders as soon as you're ready. I waited ~45 minutes for my tiger prawn pasta yesterday because they first served me the wrong pasta, then they totally forgot about sending me the correct order I had to ask them thrice before I finally got to eat. By then my family had already finished their main dishes. The spacings between each 4-seater tables' pretty narrow too, so you can easily 'bump' into the person seated right behind you and it can get uncomfortable after awhile :/ But all in all, food's cheap and good and I'll be definitely be heading back there again!

  2. Wow the food at Saveur really looks so good, especially the angel hair pasta and duck confit! I'm quite amazed that they're relatively cheap too, have always thought the prices for foods like this would be $10-20 or so for 1 dish! :)

    1. YESSS these 2 dishes are the more popular ones there, I'll really recommend you to try them if you're going :)
Food's relatively cheap compared to other restaurants, but their portions are also slightly smaller than normal! Haha.
