One Man Coffee @ Upper Thomson Road

Brunch-ed on a rainy Friday afternoon.........

...... literally. I insisted on sitting outdoors even though the rain was splashing on our tables hahaha:

Mocha (~S$5) - coffee tastes lovely, but would have looked better if it was filled to the brim:

Gashouse Egg (S$10) - a.k.a. Toad in the Hole/Egg-in-the-Bread-with-the-Hole-in-the-Middle with Bacon Jam. The egg is a little disappointing as I expected it to be runny (I've heard about its inconsistency though, I guess it just wasn't my luck that day!). The sides of the bread are crunchy and the interior's soft; the bacon jam adds a different texture and mild saltiness to it:

Broiche French Toast (S$10) - with homemade berry compote, candied walnuts and fresh cream. The bread is sooooo moist, fluffy and soft it almost melts in the mouth. I also love how the fresh cream is slightly diluted so it isn't too overpowering for me; it actually balances out the other elements well so it doesn't taste too sweet overall:

Big Brekkie (S$12) - comes with two 6-minute eggs on a slice of grilled sourdough rye, honey ham, roasted cherry tomatoes and baby spinach with pesto. The tomatoes are reeeeaaallly sweet and juicy, even Windy who doesn't like tomatoes loved them on his first try! The bread's a little hard but goes well with the ham slices. On first look the eggs seem hard-boiled but they are actually really 'bouncy' hahaha. We stuffed an egg each into our mouths let the yolk burst inside... I love this feeling hehehe:

OZ Specialty Coffee @ Sin Ming Road

Last Sunday Windy and I had brunch @ OZ Specialty Coffee, a relatively new and peaceful cafe near the Upper Thomson area. The other week when I went past this place with my #brunchdategirls it was really quiet too I've no idea why, because the place is so good for chilling + food's pretty decent too! But well, not complaining since I got to enjoy my meal w/o the bustling crowd hehe:

Iced Mint Chocolate (S$5.50) - a very refreshing chocolate drink with a subtle minty taste:

Signature Mix Salad (S$7.50) - fresh mesclun mixed with pickled onions, cherry tomatoes, mandarin oranges and toasted almonds in homemade honey vinaigrette dressing. They were out of pickled onions that day so they gave us a little more of everything haha.
I think the dressing makes this simple salad taste a lot better, and the combination of that + the juice from the mandarin oranges + that of the tomatoes' is even yummier!:

Morning Catch (S$13) - consists of scrambled eggs, thick yummy slices of smoked salmon, multi-grain toast, tri-floral honey and fresh greens. I loved the scrambled eggs! The amount of pepper on it is just right too. I've always been a fan of sunny side-ups but recently I've taken a liking to scrambled eggs because of the really decent ones I've had. The tiny jar of honey is super yummy too! It's a little sweet but very fragrant at the same time. I didn't finish using it but couldn't help but bring it home and spread it on my bread hahaha:

Salted Caramel Waffle (S$7.50) - belgian waffles with homemade salted caramel sauce topped with vanilla ice-cream.
The salted caramel tastes just right - it is thick and sticky, but neither too sweet nor too salty. The waffles are slightly hard and crunchy, distinguishing themselves from the usual fluffy ones :

On another note, thank you BRAND's InnerShine for sending me these Marine Collagen Essence Strips in Acai Berry! They are really convenient and yummy, and they contain micro-collagen for better absorption to maintain skin suppleness and youthfulness.
Comes in 3 flavours - Acai Berry (purple strip), Kyoho Grape (pink strip) and Japanese Mikan (orange strip), you can get them from Watsons, Guardian, Rakuten and their online store! :)

Roosevelt's @ New Bridge Road

Sunday's lunch @ Roosevelt's because Neko no Niwa was full on reservations (boo :() and this was the nearest alternative!:

I am in love with such hanging lights:

Hot Chocolate (S$6.50) - I was just complaining the other day how hard it is to find really nice hot chocolates and then I found this! With Valrhona dark chocolate which suits my taste perrrrrfectly:

Chocolate Banana Buttermilk Waffles (S$12) - thick and (really) fluffy waffles with caramelised bananas drizzled with chocolate sauce. One of the better waffles I've had and overall it isn't too sweet. The chocolate sauce looks a little disturbing though haha:

Pork Belly Cubano (S$14) - sandwiched with molasses-marinated pork belly (yummy yummy!), smoked ham, lettuce, tomato, hot sauce and mayonnaise; served with fries on the side. The hot sauce is creamy, tangy, mildly spicy and it goes really well with the slightly sweetened pork belly.
On a side note, I hate how some menus don't state things that are obviously/visibly there in the dish, e.g. this case it was the mayo. I would have opted for no-mayo if I'd known because I really hate it so when the sandwich came, I had to sacrifice a piece of bread + lettuce because they were coated with mayo :(

Vanilla Granola with Yogurt (S$11) - made up of toasted granola, sunflower seeds, yogurt and honey. This is really nice except that the yogurt is a little runny/watery:

7th April 2014: Had a pleasant surprise when I received this email from Roosevelt's Marketing Director, Amanda Low, who told me my feedback has been taken into consideration. Thank you!! I'd definitely be back :)
