[ADVERT] Ricciotti Pizza Pasta Grill @ China Square Central | Scholl

2 weeks ago, Louisa invited me down for a tasting session at Ricciotti, an Italian restaurant that serves authentic yet affordable Italian cuisine.

They have 3 outlets in all, but because the flagship store at The Riverwalk is currently undergoing revamp and renovation (due to reopen in September with a new menu!), we headed to the one at China Square Central. This outlet is is a great go-to lunch place for office workers in the Chinatown/Clarke Quay/Outram Park area! :)

We were served San Pellegrino's Aranciata Rossa (blood orange flavoured soda) upon arrival:

We started out with Suppli (S$13.80), which are rice balls stuffed with beef ragu and mozzarella. I love how the warm cheese stretches when the ball is cut open, and the combination of crispy and chewy texture makes this really yummy:

Caprese Salad (S$14.50) - a classic must-have Italian dish consisting of mozzarella cheese (probably the only cheese I eat because it almost has no taste), juicy tomatoes and fresh basil. The 1st thing I was told was that the colours here represent the Italian flag - red, green and white - and I'm not sure if it was coincidental or done intentionally haha. This salad is light and appetising, a good start to the rest of our meal:

Fettuccine Bolognese (S$19.50 / S$55) - flat, thick noodles with beef ragu sauce. We had the Family-sized portion (S$55) which is suited for 3-4 people if this is going to be your only Main. However we've had other dishes as well so this was able to fill the 5-6 of us.
A little on the dry side, but the beef ragu sauce is flavourful enough and I love the texture of the pasta, a differentiation from the usual spaghetti/linguine. I loved this dish the most I finished most of it hehe:

Pizzotto Pizza (9” - S$16.00 / 12” - S$23.50) - topped with bacon, mushrooms, egg, pomodoro and mozzarella. Known for their wood-fired pizzas, this is delicious except for the bacon that tastes a little weird to me:

Linguine Al Granchio (S$23.50) - one of their signature bestsellers: linguine with crabmeat in creamy tomato sauce. The sauce is rich and the crab meat servings are generous. Despite it looking plain, it has a robust and flavourful taste:

Sofiatto (S$11.80) - Italian-style dark chocolate molten cake with stracciatella gelato (which is basically vanilla ice-cream with chocolate streaks). Who doesn't love a warm lava cake with ice-cold gelato?:

Tiramisu (S$9.50) - classic Italian "Pick Me Up" with mascarpone cream, espresso & lady finger. I prefer my tiramisus with alcohol, but this has none :( Nevertheless, it doesn't taste too bad and it can be great for kids to enjoy as well!:

Lemon Meringue Tart (S$5.50) - sweet pastry with homemade lemon curd & Italian meringue. My favourite dessert that day has got to be this because I'm a huge fan of lemons! This also has the right balance of sweetness and sourness:

Panna Cotta (S$5.90) - silky vanilla cream pudding with seasonal fruit sauce. The panna cotta is dense and rich with a strong Vanilla taste. It is also very smooth and not too sweet, so it goes really well with the fruit sauce:

Riccioti is currently having a few attractive promotions!

Daily deals available till 5pm everyday, with a minimum food spending of S$20 per person:

And also some Set Lunch specials (not valid on Public Holidays):

Thanks Louisa and Ricciotti for having me! :)
